It appears that motorists don't appreciate my Road Tax jersey or at least I had far more close passes today then any other day for a few months. I saw my first 'bent out in the wild. Obviously I've seen them before but this was the first time it belonged to someone I didn't know. Strange design too, very long wheelbase with what looked like a normal headtube over the front wheel, steered from underseat but the front wheel was a long way from the rider. More and more helmet wearers that...

How frequently do you service your suspension forks (and rear shocks if your bike has it if course)? My MTB is almost 10 years old, 4000 off road kilometres, never had fork serviced. And I never will service it (it's a cheap fork). So how about you all?

A thread specially for 'persons of leisure' and independent means, or those with aspirations. How do you while away those lazy days? How do you cope financially? When did you retire? Is retirement what you expected? How long did you take to adjust?Etc.Tell us what you are up to today or what plans you have.Or just have a bit of silliness to while away those lazy hours.I've been busy today. Hilly 15 mile ride in North Devon, took dog for a stroll along Saunton Sands, cut the front lawn...

There's a little thing that doesn't bother us at first, like a little foible we find endearing in a loved one until it grows beyond tolerance and makes you want to plunge a red hot poker into thei......but then becomes a MAJOR annoyance. I'm going to go for the trivialest (is that a word? It is now!) thing that causes the most annoyance; i-pod and i-pad. Not the items themselves but their words! They are TOO similar and inevitably lead to you saying one when really, you are trying to say...

So, I have the ferry booked from Newcastle to Ijmuiden next March and a couple of nights stay in the tulip fields near to Keukenhof with a view to cycling those and down to Leiden and possibly The Hague. However, I am struggling to find a hotel in Haarlem with secure bike storage without it costing a bomb. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? That will be our last stop before the ride to the ferry back to the UK.

Just picked this up yesterday and was wondering if anyone here might know anything about the builder. Very hard to find anything online though "CF" and "Hill" aren't the easiest terms to filter through on bike forums. I did find one post on the C&V board:"C.F. Hill on Kent Road in London made similar looking frames. I sold the one from the 60’s I bought as NOS when that shop was closing in 1973. Their frames are an illustration of the difficulty of finding the builder. Even though they...

@bluenotebob organised the 2023 version of this challenge but won't be doing it in 2024 so I am putting the new thread up this time. I will copy, paste and edit his post from last year...Do a minimum of three outdoor rides per week for each week of the year.
Indoor rides do not qualify. Each ride to last a minimum of 30 minutes. It’s preferable that each of the three rides takes place on a different day of the week – but that’s not mandatory (two rides on the same...

Whilst out last week I saw one large red sign at the side of the road near Badsworth, with the wording "Cats eyes removed" I think it's a bit harsh, surely the RSPCA might have something to say about that, also driving out of Sherburn in Elmet the council have put a sign out with the message "Warning Potholes" well that'll help won't it, not.

Mines Alan Furleys up the downs. 200, starts near Reading. Was thinking of doing the earlier start 300 but an 8am start and less suffering might be more enjoyable.

Well now that it's getting darker earlier my rides after work will include some riding it the dark. I have a new helmet and bike light to help keep me riding during the week after work. Today's ride I had the helmet light set on low and the bike light at its medium setting as a test. Side note is I was wearing my prescription sunglasses the whole ride. I can't find my clear lenses ones yet (lol) so it did get darker quicker. It was tougher with the ridged and all the leaves hiding the roots...
