The first week of June is National Sun Safety Week. More than one million people will be diagnosed with Skin Cancer this year. And if you break the numbers down even further, Skin Cancer is responsible for taking the life of one person ever hour.
I don’t believe the idea of National Sun Safety Week is to deter people from going outside in the sun. Everyone loves hitting the beach on a bright sunny day, hanging out by the pool or simply just the enjoyment of being outside on a beautiful day. I do think the idea is to encourage people not to over do their exposure to harmful UV Rays and when out in the sun to use precautions. Below is a list of suggested precautions from Dr. Michelle Sell, which should be implemented into everyday routines:
